Construction Zone Safety
Road construction improves our transportation system, but work zones require extra attention from every driver. Please slow down, remain alert, and follow all posted signs and directions to help protect workers, other motorists, and yourself.
Please do your part in work zones:
- Slow down and obey posted speed limits.
- Put away phones and avoid other distractions.
- Watch for signs, traffic-control devices, and flaggers.
- Be prepared to slow down or stop.
- Maintain a safe following distance.
- Merge as directed before reaching the work zone.
- Stay out of closed lanes and away from construction equipment.
- Remember that work zones may move as crews complete paving, patching, pavement marking, and other maintenance.
- Allow extra travel time and use an alternate route when possible.
- Remain patient, courteous, and alert.
