Rodney “Rod” Pavlawk serves as General Superintendent of the Bay County Road Commission. Reporting to the Engineer-Manager, he provides leadership and direction for the Road Commission’s countywide maintenance and operations activities.
Rod oversees the three district garages and coordinates the employees, equipment, facilities, and resources needed to maintain a safe and reliable road system throughout the year. He works closely with district foremen, Engineering staff, and Road Commission leadership to plan routine maintenance, respond to changing road and weather conditions, and address the operational needs of communities throughout Bay County.
His responsibilities include:

Directing countywide road maintenance and operational activities

Supervising the three district foremen and garage operations

Coordinating snow and ice control operations

Planning and scheduling employees, equipment, and maintenance resources

Monitoring road conditions and coordinating responses to weather events, emergencies, and other roadway needs

Overseeing the maintenance and management of the Road Commission’s vehicle and equipment fleet

Preparing annual capital outlay and equipment budgets

Developing specifications for vehicles and equipment purchases

Supervising and coordinating major equipment purchases

Overseeing the maintenance of Road Commission buildings, facilities, and grounds

Coordinating maintenance activities with the Engineering Department and other Road Commission operations

Promoting safe, efficient, and responsible work practices throughout the Maintenance and Operations Department
Rod and the Maintenance and Operations team work year-round to keep Bay County’s road system safe, accessible, and prepared for seasonal conditions.
